Anti-terrorist operation underway in Russia’s North Caucasian republic
According to the Federal Security Service, 82 anti-terrorist operations have been carried out in the North Caucasus in 2014-2015
NALCHIK, September 22. /TASS/. An anti-terrorist operation, involving special task force of the Federal Security Service and police, is under way in the north of the Russian North Caucasian republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, a source from the operational headquarters told TASS on Tuesday.
The aim of the operation is to prevent terrorist acts, ensure safety of the local population as well as to find and detain gunmen.
According to the Federal Security Service, 82 anti-terrorist operations have been carried out in the North Caucasus in 2014-2015, in which 233 gunmen, including 38 leaders, have been killed.
The largest-scale operations, some of them aimed against suicide bombers, have been organized this year in Dagestan and in Kabardino-Balkaria. Anti-terrorist activity is also high in the republics of Ingushetia and Chechnya.
