MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/.At least twelve bomb threats targeting flights of European airlines were received during Thursday.

Most of the aircraft had to make emergency landings at the nearest airfields or military bases, although inspections subsequently revealed no actual threats. An Airbus A320 flying the Dublin-Rome route was one of the first flights on Thursday to report a possible explosive device on board, a source in air traffic control circles told TASS. The plane subsequently landed at the French military base Evreux-Fauville. Similar incidents also affected airports in Bulgaria, Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, and Romania.

A Finnair flight that departed from Helsinki landed at Rome's Fiumicino Airport accompanied by an Italian Air Force fighter jet, the newspaper Il Messaggero reported. According to the publication, a second aircraft from the same airline landed at the airport of Vienna. A Wizz Air plane that had departed from Milan’s Malpensa Airport bound for Warsaw, also made an emergency landing there.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Defense reported that MiG-29 fighter jets on combat duty intercepted and escorted three passenger planes to landings at Bulgarian airports after their crews also reported bomb threats. One of the passenger planes landed in Plovdiv, while the other two landed at the Vasil Levski Airport in Sofia. According to Nova TV, all three aircraft belonged to Ryanair.

The Romanian Intelligence Service also informed that the crew of a Wizz Air aircraft arriving from Milan notified air traffic controllers at the Henri Coanda International Airport in Bucharest about a bomb threat. Following an inspection by special services, the information regarding the presence of explosives was not confirmed. Information about a bomb threat on a LOT airline flight from Warsaw to Brussels Airport also proved to be false, Het Nieuwsblad newspaper reported.

The Czech Police said on X that information was received regarding security threats against four aircraft bound for Prague. Eventually, "the pyrotechnic inspection yielded negative results," the authority said.
