Pike, who survived execution in US, forced to clean cockroach-infested shower
The prisoner has filed a complaint with a Tennessee state court
NEW YORK, November 3. /TASS/. American Christa Pike, who survived two doses of a lethal injection, has complained that she is being forced to clean a shower infested with cockroaches at a rehabilitation center for inmates, Pike stated in a complaint she filed with a Tennessee state court.
"I have a roach-infested shower that I had to clean on my own, which puts me at a high risk of infection and further injury," the document, obtained by TASS, said.
The complaint also noted that she remains physically weak and suffers from debilitating pain, with difficulty moving her arms.
In addition, Pike said she is being held in the infirmary in isolation from other inmates, leaving her with almost no human contact. She is not allowed to take part in group activities, meals or religious services.
On September 30, Pike survived two doses of the lethal injection drug at a prison in Nashville, Tennessee. Her lawyers had previously warned that she had thrombocytosis and that administering the drug could cause blood clots and additional suffering.
Pike was set to become the first woman executed in Tennessee in more than 200 years. Following the failed attempt, Governor Bill Lee ordered an investigation and halted another execution scheduled for 2026.
