Ugandan educator calls for more cultural exchanges between Russia, Africa
Daniel Omara said relations between Russia and Africa had long been built on friendship of peoples
MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. More opportunities for Russians and Africans to travel, learn each other’s languages and experience their cultures could help bring the two sides closer, Ugandan educator and founder of the Chunga-Changa interactive Russian-language school Daniel Omara told TASS.
He said relations between Russia and Africa had long been built on friendship of peoples, adding that educational projects could help strengthen these ties among younger generations.
"These projects and other educational projects are very important, because we build the future, we build communication, we can communicate with each other, we can take advantage of opportunities that will come in the future," he said.
Omara’s project, an interactive Russian-language school for African children, was launched in Uganda and is set to expand to other African countries. He also hopes to organize trips for African children to Russia and introduce Russian audiences to African culture and tourism.
"We are going to show this to Russians, and on the side of the Africans, we are going to be organizing a lot more tours for these kids to come to Russia, to experience the different ways of life, the food, the Russian culture is a rich culture," he said.
Omara said that education, travel and cultural exchanges could help Russians and Africans better understand one another, adding that he was happy to see closer engagement between the two sides.
