According to Yury Chernichuk, the ZNPP has lost external power 26 times since the conflict began

VIENNA, October 22. /TASS/. The consequences of a potential accident at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), which could be triggered by blackouts caused by Ukrainian attacks, would be comparable to those of the Chernobyl and Fukushima disasters, the facility’s director, Yury Chernichuk, warned.

According to him, the ZNPP has lost external power 26 times since the conflict began, forcing it to switch to emergency diesel generators.

"In fact, this is the last barrier against accidents whose consequences could be compared to those of the disasters that occurred at the Chernobyl plant in the Soviet Union in 1986 and at the Fukushima plant in 2011," Chernichuk said during an international video conference, hosted by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, which was dedicated to the Ukrainian army’s terrorist activities in the Zaporozhye Region.
