SCO members jointly foil 273 terrorist attacks in 2025 — Anti-Terrorism Structure
Approximately 3,000 members and accomplices of terrorist organizations were detained and about 2,500 were neutralized
DUSHANBE, October 20. /TASS/. In 2025, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states worked together to prevent 273 terrorist attacks and thwart a number of other crimes, Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) Ularbek Sharsheev said at an expanded meeting of the organization’s Council of Heads of Government in Dushanbe.
"In 2025, through the joint efforts of the SCO member states, 273 terrorist attacks were prevented, more than 3,000 terrorist and separatist crimes were thwarted, and approximately 3,000 members and accomplices of terrorist organizations were detained and about 2,500 were neutralized," he stated.
The RATS chief specified that, as part of the ongoing operations, "5,500 terrorism funding channels were identified, 40 channels of illicit trafficking in weapons and ammunition were eliminated, and over 110,000 online resources and materials promoting terrorism, separatism, and extremism were blocked."
Sharsheev reported that, in this context, the SCO RATS is steadily carrying out the decisions and other directives of the heads of state, while counterterrorism exercises and other relevant activities take place regularly. "Nevertheless, the nature and scale of challenges and threats are undergoing systemic changes, which requires constant adaptation to modern realities," he emphasized.
