First Arctic scientific online quiz extended to late November

More than 9,000 people from Russia and 20 countries have completed the quiz

ARKHANGELSK, October 8. /TASS/. The Arctic: Test Yourself quiz will run online to November 30, the project curator, head of the department for coordinating work of young scientists, specialists and research students at the Northern Arctic Federal University (NArFU) Svetlana Kartseva told TASS. The project participants are invited to answer 20 questions of various difficulty levels about the Arctic.

"The scientific quiz includes solving online tests with closed-ended questions at different levels of difficulty: for school, secondary and higher educational institutions students; for graduate students and young scientists. Anyone may take part in it," she said. "We have extended the project to November 30."

The questions cover topics of nature, climate, the Arctic exploration history, indigenous peoples, current scientific discoveries, and others. Those who complete the quiz, receive personalized electronic certificates. The project's objectives are to promote knowledge about the Arctic as a strategically important region of the Russian Federation; to involve young people in science; and to exchange knowledge and experience about Arctic research.

The project's partners are: the Arkhangelsk Region's Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Scientific and Technological Development; the Solovetsky State Historical, Architectural and Natural Museum-Reserve; the Russian Arctic National Park; and the Kenozersky National Park.

More than 9,000 people from across Russia and from more than 20 countries have completed the quiz. The project's offline stage was on October 2. It was attended by about 60 people. The offline stage in Arkhangelsk was part of the national Polyus Forum of Young Scientists.
