Sierra Leone wants its specialists to receive education in Russia — ambassador
According to Mohamed Yongawo, Sierra Leone sees cooperation with Russia in the education sphere as the most promising area of interaction
MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Sierra Leone is enthused about cooperating with Russia in education and is interested in training its specialists at Russian universities, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Moscow Mohamed Yongawo said.
"Several students from Sierra Leone are already studying at Russian universities thanks to the treaty of understanding (memorandum of understanding in the area of higher education of November 2023 - TASS). Some of them are studying at the St. Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II. Several of our students are studying in Moscow, receiving knowledge about Russian mining technologies," he told TASS on the sidelines of the the 9th International Forum "North Caucasus: A Space for Dialogue, Traditions, and Development."
According to the diplomat, his country sees cooperation with Russia in the education sphere as the most promising area of interaction and for these ends it plans to sign agreements with several Russian universities to train students from Sierra Leone.
"Because I am convinced that if more of our students study here, expand their knowledge, and improve their skills and understanding, that is exactly what will help us develop our country," he stressed. "Because our country is very interested in improving and expanding our people’s knowledge, since education is one of the keys to development. And that is why, here at the forum, I took interest in learning more about cooperation in the field of education."
