Moscow court fines Telegram $44,743 for failure to remove prohibited content

Telegram’s debt from fines for violating Russian laws has exceeded $447,000

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Moscow’s Tagansky District Court has fined the messaging app Telegram 3.8 million rubles ($44,743) for three instances of posting information prohibited from dissemination in the Russian Federation, a participant in the proceedings told TASS.

"The court found Telegram guilty under Part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (failure by a website or online information resource owner to remove information or a webpage) and imposed a fine of 3.8 million rubles ($44,743)," the source said.

As previously reported, Telegram’s outstanding debt from fines for violating Russian laws - which were not paid by the statutory deadline - has exceeded 38 million rubles ($447,427).
