BUENOS AIRES, August 11. /TASS/. At least 883 people sought medical treatment following a powerful earthquake that struck western Colombia, BluRadio reported, citing German Escobar, secretary of health for the city of Cali.

According to the report, three medical facilities were shut down due to damage, with most of their patients transferred to other facilities. Escobar said the healthcare system was operating close to full capacity.

Meanwhile, at least 188 people were reported missing in the Valle del Cauca department after the quake, the radio station added. Another 100 people are missing in the city of Manizales.

According to Colombia’s national energy grid operator, power supplies have been disrupted in several regions of the country, with the most serious problems reported in the Choco department, where about 60% of electricity service has been affected.

A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck near the city of San Jose del Palmar in the Choco department on August 10, killing at least 132 people.
