MOSCOW, August 10. /TASS/. Officers of the Federal Security Service (FSB) have apprehended a 50-year-old Russian citizen in the Kherson region who was preparing, on the instructions of Ukrainian special services, a terrorist attack against Russian military personnel, the Public Relations Center of the FSB of Russia reported.

Detention

- FSB officers apprehended a Russian citizen born in 1976 in the Kherson region who was planning a terrorist attack on the instructions of Ukrainian special services, the Public Relations Center reported.

- It was established that the suspect, a supporter of a terrorist organization banned in Russia, was recruited via the Telegram messenger by an officer of Ukrainian special services to carry out a sabotage and terrorist act against Russian military personnel stationed in the city of Skadovsk.

- As the FSB noted, the detainee was found to have and was confiscated from him a ready-made radio-controlled improvised explosive device, camouflaged as a power bank, with an explosive mass of over 200 grams, as well as a phone for secure communication with his handler, containing correspondence confirming his illegal activities.

Confession

- The detainee has admitted guilt and is actively cooperating with the investigation, the Public Relations Center added.

- He confessed that for money he gathered addresses of Russian military personnel, according to video footage released by the FSB of Russia.

- According to the man, the next task was to find an explosive device in a hidden stash and go to retrieve it.

Investigation

- A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 205 (attempted terrorist attack) and Part 3 of Article 222.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (illegal acquisition, transfer, storage of explosives or explosive devices).

- The Genichesk District Court of the Kherson Region has ordered the suspect held in custody.
