MOSCOW, July 29. /TASS/. Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov may be arrested in absentia in Russia, lawyer Vladimir Zherebenkov told TASS.

"This is a standard procedure required to extradite a person to Russia. A Russian court issues an arrest warrant in absentia, after which Russian law enforcement agencies begin seeking his extradition, including through Interpol. Durov will likely face the same," he said.

Earlier reports indicated that Durov had been charged in a criminal case under investigation for the crime under Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (assistance to terrorist activity), and he was added to the international wanted list.
