Most Americans expect their financial situation to worsen due to war in Iran — poll

Regarding the threat to the lives of US military personnel, public opinion was even more unequivocal

LONDON, April 3. /TASS/. The majority of Americans believe that the war in Iran will negatively impact their financial situation and worry that the lives of US soldiers will be lost, according to the results of a poll conducted by Ipsos for the Reuters agency.

Fifty-six percent of respondents expressed the opinion that their economic situation would worsen. Only 7% of the 1,000 people surveyed from March 27 to 29 believed the opposite. Another 12% of participants thought the fighting in Iran would have no effect on their finances, while 25% found it difficult to answer. At the same time, the majority of respondents are confident that the war will have a negative impact on the entire Middle East region, and that the quality of life of Iranians will decline. This opinion is held by 52% and 49% of respondents, respectively.

Regarding the threat to the lives of US military personnel, public opinion was even more unequivocal. The overwhelming majority - 86% - of survey participants admitted that this concerns them. Another 12% percent do not consider this a cause for concern, and 3% were undecided in their position.

The United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were struck. The White House justified the attack by citing alleged missile and nuclear threats from Iran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced a retaliatory operation, targeting sites in Israel. US military bases in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE were also hit. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and some other key Iranian leaders were killed in the joint US-Israeli attack.
