Russia, Ukraine are working hard on prisoner exchanges ahead of Easter — ombudswoman

Tatyana Moskalkova revealed that an agreement had been reached with Ukrainian authorities prior to the holiday to ensure that prisoners of war can observe Easter in a manner that honors their traditions

MINSK, April 2. /TASS/. Russia and Ukraine are diligently coordinating efforts to facilitate a prisoner of war exchange, Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova announced to the media.

"Leading up to Easter, we are making concerted efforts to prepare for prisoner exchanges," she stated. Moskalkova also revealed that an agreement had been reached with Ukrainian authorities prior to the holiday to ensure that prisoners of war can observe Easter in a manner that honors their traditions.

"Many of the prisoners of war are Orthodox Christians. Both Russia and Ukraine are committed to providing them with Easter cakes and the opportunity to meet with a priest," she added.
