Alexey Likhachev still noted that it is necessary to restore power to the plant

MOSCOW, October 9. /TASS/. The situation at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant does not raise any nuclear safety concerns, Alexey Likhachev, head of Russia’s civilian nuclear corporation Rosatom, said on Thursday.

"At present, the situation at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant remains stable in terms of nuclear safety," the Rosatom chief said in comments to the Yunashev Live Telegram channel.

However, "a radical solution is required," Likhachev stated.

"It is necessary to restore power to the plant, and we are preparing for this," he added.

The Zaporozhye NPP has been operating on its emergency diesel generators for more than 15 days. The plant switched to emergency power on September 23 after its last 750kV Dneprovskaya external line was damaged by Ukrainian shelling. On October 6, the Zaporozhye facility and the nearby town of Energodar were again targeted by Ukrainian artillery, which hit a fire station located just 1.2 km from the plant’s perimeter.
