STOCKHOLM, October 9. /TASS/. On Thursday, the Swedish Academy will announce the winner of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature. According to the will of Alfred Nobel (1833-1896), the prize in this field is awarded to the author of "the best literary work of an idealistic character." What exactly was meant by "idealistic" remains a matter of debate.
At 1:00 p.m. local time (11:00 a.m. GMT), Mats Malm, permanent secretary of the academy and professor of literature at the University of Gothenburg, will announce the new laureate. Afterwards, Anders Olsson, chairman of the Nobel Committee, will deliver a speech about the winner.
