Penitentiary service denies rumors of Igor Strelkov's death in penal colony

MOSCOW, March 12. /TASS/. The Kirov Region’s office of the federal penitentiary service has denied rumors of Igor Strelkov's death in a penal colony.
Earlier, a number of Telegram channels wrote that Strelkov (Girkin) had allegedly committed suicide.
"The rumors being spread on the Internet about Igor Girkin’s death in a correctional establishment of the federal penitentiary service in the Kirov Region are false," reads the service’s news release.
On January 25, 2024, the Moscow City Court sentenced a former Donetsk People’s Republic Defense Minister Igor Strelkov (Girkin) to four years in prison, finding him guilty under Article 280 of the Criminal Code (calls for extremist activity) for his posts on a Telegram channel. Girkin pleaded not guilty. He is currently serving his sentence in Kirovo-Chepetsk’s penal colony No. 5.
