NEW YORK, March 12. /TASS/. Legendary American heavy metal band Metallica announced the upcoming release of a concert film designed for viewing with Apple's Vision Pro augmented reality glasses, Bloomberg reported.

The 26-minute film, filmed in Mexico City in September 2024, will be available in demo version at Apple Stores worldwide starting March 14, the agency reports.

It includes live performances of iconic tracks like Whiplash and Enter Sandman. Additionally, songs from the film will be available on Apple Music.

"We’ve always been interested in pushing the boundaries," said the band's drummer Lars Ulrich during the South by Southwest conference in Austin on March 11, as quoted by Bloomberg.

Sales of the Vision Pro began in the United States on February 2, 2024. The headset is an augmented reality device that allows users to experience the physical world while overlaying a digital environment. Users can control the interface and applications, for instance, by using gestures.

Metallica was formed in 1981 in Los Angeles by vocalist and guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, with the band being based in San Francisco for the majority of its existence. Apart from Hetfield and Ulrich, the current lineup includes Kirk Hammett on lead guitar and Robert Trujillo on bass. Over the years, the band has released 11 studio albums, selling more than 58 million copies globally.
