Foreign majors need to study Russian laws before returning to market — experts
The market has changed in many aspects over the last three years from the legal standpoint, CEO of Telecom Daily Denis Kuskov agrees
MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. Foreign content creators that left the Russian market should attentively study current laws if they consider returning, CEO of Wink online movie theater Anton Volodkin said.
"If I were in the majors' place, I would attentively study modern laws. The ample quantity of content there is not in line with current requirements," he said at the CSTB.PRO.MEDIA.2025 exhibition and forum.
The market has changed in many aspects over the last three years from the legal standpoint, CEO of Telecom Daily Denis Kuskov agrees. "The arrival of foreign companies to us is probably complicated not merely by the evolving situation with the inability to pay for the content. But also with the need for them to adapt to current legislative realities," he added.
Okko General Producer Gavriil Gordeev pointed out in his turn that the topic of the foreign majors return should not be raised ahead of time. "We talk too much about the return of the majors. And everybody speaks so much and reinforces this, so it seems to me they have seen all these news reports and will not return. Let’s talk about that later," he mused. "We are thinking, discussing, and do not fear," Gordeev said, answering the question about the effect of the return of foreign content producers on the market.
