Putin continues to enjoy strong support among Russians, latest poll shows
A total of 54% of those polled said they approved of the Russian government’s handling of the country, while 56% approved of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s performance
MOSCOW, February 7. /TASS/. The level of trust in President Vladimir Putin among the Russian public stays at 78%, while 80% of respondents approved of his job performance, according to a survey conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM).
The poll, carried out from January 31 to February 2, surveyed 1,500 respondents. "When asked directly if they trusted Putin, 78% of participants responded affirmatively (a 3% decrease). The majority also endorsed the president’s job performance (80%, a 2% decrease)," the service said.
A total of 54% of those polled said they approved of the Russian government’s handling of the country (a 2% decrease), while 56% approved of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s performance (a 3% decrease).
Support for the ruling United Russia party dropped by 3% to 44%. Support for the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) remained at 8%, while the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) held steady at 9%. The A Just Russia-For Truth party’s support also remained unchanged in a week and stood at 3%, as did support for the New People party, which also stayed at 3%.
