PARIS, December 17. /TASS/. The majority of French citizens disapprove of Emmanuel Macron’s activity as president, according to the results of an opinion poll conducted by the Odoxa pollster.

Thus, 74% of those polled said they don’t think that Macron is a good president and 85% spoke in favor of reforming France’s political institutions.

According to Odoxa’s findings, more than a half of the French (52%) believe that it would be expedient to reduce the presidential mandate to one office term. Fifty-six percent of respondents supported the idea of a Sixth Republic.

The poll was conducted among 1,005 French nationals older than 18 on December 11 and 12.

France’s National Assembly, or the lower house of parliament, voted on a motion of no-confidence against the government of 73-year-old Michel Barnier following his controversial decision to sidestep a parliamentary vote on next year’s social security budget. The motion received support from 331 lawmakers. Macron accepted Barnier’s resignation after his government had served a term of just 90 days, the shortest in the history of the French Republic. On December 13, Francois Bayrou, also 73, leader of the centrist Democratic Movement political party, was appointed the nation's prime minister. So far, he has not formed a government.
