Russia delivers 1,200 tons of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan over past year
Such work will continue, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu said
KABUL, November 26. /TASS/. Russia has helped deliver more than 1,200 tons of humanitarian aid to Kabul over the past 12 months on its own and as part of its contribution to the UN World Food Program fund, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu said at a meeting with the country's Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Ghani Baradar.
On Monday, Shoigu paid a visit to Afghanistan, where he met with the country's top leadership. During four rounds of talks, he discussed economic, transportation and security issues with deputy prime ministers and ministers.
"Over the past 12 months, more than 1,200 tons of humanitarian aid have been delivered to Kabul through bilateral channels, as well as within the framework of Russia's contribution to the UN World Food Program fund," Shoigu said.
He noted that the humanitarian aid was delivered by the forces of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and the Defense Ministry, among others. It included food and basic necessities. According to Shoigu, such work will continue.
