SUKHUM, November 15. /TASS/. Members of the Abkhazian opposition holding a protest rally near the parliament building against the ratification of an agreement with Russia on investment projects in the republic have turned violent, a TASS correspondent reported.
The protesters began to throw stones and sticks at law enforcement officials.
On Friday, Abkhazia’s parliament was going to consider the issue of ratifying an agreement with Russia on implementing investment projects in the republic. The opposition called for a protest rally and urged residents to participate because it considers the agreement harmful for the country’s economic sovereignty. Law enforcement agencies were put on high alert.
