Russian PM warns against turning climate agenda into tool of fight
The 29th UN Climate Change Conference (СОР-29) is taking place on November 11-22 in Azerbaijan’s capital
BAKU, November 13. /TASS/. The global transition to the low-carbon economy should not cause detriment to developing countries, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said, adding that discrimination and unfair fighting under the pretext of the climate agenda should not be allowed.
"It is important to make sure that the transition to the low-emission energy does not cause detriment to development of low-income countries," he said at the UN Climate Change Conference in Baku. "The problem of global heating should not be used as a pretext for discrimination, unfair competitiveness and introduction of artificial restrictions," the official added.
The 29th UN Climate Change Conference (СОР-29) is taking place on November 11-22 in Azerbaijan’s capital. Delegates from more than 100 countries are discussing efforts to work out efficient solutions to tackle negative consequences of the global heating.
