Early detectability of cancer in Russia gained 8% from 2021

Tumors are found at the first and the second stages of the disease in more than 60% of cases, chief executive of the Radiology Research Medical Center Andrey Kaprin noted

MOSCOW, November 10. /TASS/. The cancer detection rate in Russia returned to normal indicators after the coronavirus pandemic and detectability of new cases increased by 8% from 2021, chief executive of the Radiology Research Medical Center Andrey Kaprin told TASS in an interview.

"Large-scale medical checkups were suspended during that period [of the coronavirus pandemic]. There were less preventive examinations and it quite expectedly affected certain targets of the federal projects, such as early detection, for example. Nevertheless, we state that statistics returned to normal indicators at present and we according to last-year results that the detection rate grew by 8% against 2021," the expert said.

Tumors are found at the first and the second stages of the disease in more than 60% of cases, the researcher noted. "We also have good dynamics for such target as the specific ratio of patients standing registered for five and more years," Kaprin added.
