Special airspace class to be allocated for drones — Russian regulator
head of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency Dmitry Yadrov said that the authority is also developing new airworthiness standards making it possible to simply the certification procedure for certain areas of drone use
MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. A separate airspace class at the altitude of 300-500 meters can be allocated for drone flights, head of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) Dmitry Yadrov said.
"Rosaviatsiya suggested creating a special airspace class for flights of unmanned aerial vehicles. This pertains in the first instance to flights at low altitudes - about 300-400-500 meters," the official said.
The authority is also developing new airworthiness standards making it possible to simply the certification procedure for certain areas of drone use, primarily for flights not above the densely populated areas, Yadrov noted.
"As you know, the majority of Russian regions has introduced for the time being relevant restrictions of airspace use but in any case about 125,000 flights of unmanned aerial vehicles were supported and we plan to reach growth by about 10% annually by the end of the year," he added.
