HAIKOU /China/, September 2./TASS/.  By the end of August, the organizers of the 6th Hainan International Film Festival (HIFF), to be held in December 2024, had received more than 3,000 applications for screenings from 109 countries and regions around the world, the festival's organizing committee reported.

The festival's program, whose winners will compete for the main Golden Coconut Awards, consists of several segments: Feature Film, Documentary Film and Short Film. The film festival jury will select the films to be included in the competition program in November.  Participants will receive awards in various nominations, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Screenplay, Visual Effects and a number of others.

The 2024 Hainan International Film Festival will be held in the resort city of Sanya from December 4 to 10. This film festival is recognized as one of the top four major film festivals in China.  It was held for the first time in December 2018. World-renowned actors and directors such as Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage, Johnny Depp, Nuri Bilge Ceylan and others attended.

It is the youngest film festival in China, but it has already managed to attract the attention of audiences and experts alike. The festival is supported by the State Film Administration and co-sponsored by China Central Radio and Television (CCTV) and the Hainan Provincial People's Government.
