HAIKOU /China/, May 28./ TASS/. Over 50 foreign students in Hainan visited the Pottery Museum in Baotu village, where they learned the art of pottery of Hainan's Li people, the local government wrote on its official website.

According to the publication, the students visited the Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall as well as a production workshop. The museum staff told the students the history and legends of Li pottery and explained the process of making and firing pottery. After the excursion the students tried to make souvenirs on their own under the guidance of masters.

A student from Russia noted that participation in such events allows people to better learn the history and culture of another nation. He was quoted in the report as saying that Changjiang Li Autonomous County is "incredibly beautiful".

The official website noted that in recent years pottery art has merged with tourism: the ceramics museum has become a popular attraction, there are exhibitions and other events that attract tourists

By 2025, the authorities intend to turn Hainan into an "international center of tourism and consumption". The Chinese island is often referred to as the "Eastern Hawaii" - natural landscapes, tropical forests, a developed hotel chain in combination with beaches and a coastline stretching along more than 1,900 kilometers attract guests from the most distant parts of the world. According to the results of 2023, more than 90 million Chinese and foreign tourists visited the southern Chinese province of Hainan, which is 49.9% more than in 2022.
