Baltic Federal University prepares three-volume edition of Kant's works for publication
This is a limited edition of 300 copies
KALININGRAD, April 8. /TASS/. Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (IKBFU) has prepared a three-volume edition of Immanuel Kant's works, including the philosopher's notes to the report “On the Philosophical Medicine of the Body” and his rough sketches to the preface “Religion within the Boundaries of Reason Alone”, which have never been translated into Russian before, the university's press office reported.
“A unique three-volume book with new translations of Immanuel Kant's works has been prepared to mark the 300th anniversary of the great German philosopher's birth (1724-1804) and the International Kant Congress in Kaliningrad. These include two works that have never been translated into Russian before. For the first time Russian-speaking readers will be able to get acquainted with Immanuel Kant's notes to the report “On the Philosophical Medicine of the Body” translated from Latin by Sergey Lugovoy (edited by Alexey Zhavoronkov) and the philosopher's rough sketches to the “Religion within the Boundaries of Reason Alone” foreword translated from German by Lyudmila Kryshtop (edited by Alexey Kruglov)", the press service wrote.
Nina Dmitrieva, scientific director of the Academia Kantiana, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, responsible editor of the three-volume book, noted that these texts “allow us to trace the evolution of Kant's concepts of anthropology and philosophy of religion, to clarify the historical context of his reflections and some difficult to understand moments in the main Kantian works”.
The three-volume set is a limited edition of 300 copies. It was prepared by the BFU publishing house and is being printed at the St. Petersburg printing house, the press service told TASS, adding that the edition is to be released in April.
It will be available in Russia's main libraries, as well as in bookstores. The electronic version of the three-volume book will appear on the Scientific Library of Kant BFU website.
Work on the project began in 2021 and extended until the spring of 2024. The publication is timed to coincide with the International Kant Congress, which will be held on April 22-25 in Kaliningrad and will bring together leading scholars from around the world to discuss Kant's philosophical legacy and its impact on modern science and society.
