Orenburg floods reach peak, Orsk floodwaters begin to recede
Governor Denis Pasler added that the situation remains tense in the city
ORENBURG, April 10. /TASS/. Floods have reached their peak in Orenburg, whereas the floodwaters appear to be receding in Orsk, which will continue on April 11, Orenburg Region Governor Denis Pasler told reporters.
"Orenburg is at the highest peak [of the floods]. <…> Orsk is seeing a steady downward trend, which will continue overnight and tomorrow. We will be carrying on this work to reduce the volume of [water] discharge [from the Irikla Reservoir] in order to clear the flooded areas as soon as possible," he said.
Pasler added that the situation remains tense in the city.
"Sadly, the level is already higher than 10 meters 10 centimeters. As I said today, [the water level] will be rising in the near future, but of course, this discharge that we are reducing from the Irikla will definitely result in a time-delayed <...> decrease in the level," the governor said.
