MELITOPOL, April 4. /TASS/. Background radiation at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is normal after a high-voltage electricity line was disconnected, Valery Khitarov, the head of the Russian Federal Medical-Biological Agency’s department in the Zaporozhye Region, told TASS.
"Background radiation is normal, everything is okay. <…> We monitor background radiation twice a day, and it’s ideal," the official said.
Earlier on Thursday, TASS quoted the Zaporozhye nuke plant as saying on its Telegram channel that a 330 KW back-up power line at the nuclear facility switched off at about 10:06 a.m. Moscow time (8:06 a.m. GMT - TASS). The reasons for the incident are being clarified.
