MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. The absolute majority of Russians (98%) believe that they have a sense of humor, according to polling data from the Weber public opinion research agency, a project of the Dialogue and Dialogue Regions non-profit organizations, which were made available to TASS.

According to the poll results, 98% of Russians claim to have a sense of humor. Thus, 94% joke when communicating with other people, with 48% reporting doing so often.

Respondents note that most (76%) of the people they have to interact with also have a sense of humor. At the same time, 58% believe that their sense of humor is at the same level, while 27% think that their sense of humor is more developed, and 7% think it is worse.

The respondents also emphasized that it is important for them that their spouse (83%), friends (82%) and relationship partner (73%) also have a sense of humor. Slightly less important to those surveyed is that their relatives (63%), colleagues (57%) and neighbors (35%) have a sense of humor.

Most Russians agree that humor helps cope with pain (76%), and that laughter prolongs life (75%). Also, 75% of respondents believe that a sense of humor helps preserve relationships.

Despite their love for jokes and laughter, 42% have a negative attitude towards dark humor, while 28% hold the opposite view. In addition, 57% of respondents believe that it is not acceptable to laugh at anything. The majority considers tragedies involving loved ones, genocide, epidemics, disasters, terrorist attacks, wars and their victims, and the health issues of others as taboo topics for jokes.

About the survey

The public opinion research was conducted by the Dialogue Regions non-profit organization on March 20, 2024 using the River Sampling method among 1,200 respondents over 18 years old.
