Polls demonstrate high level of Russian public’s trust, confidence in Putin

According to the Public Opinion Foundation, the level of popular support for Russia’s main political parties stood at 52% for the ruling United Russia party

MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. The level of trust and confidence among Russians in recently re-elected President Vladimir Putin varies between 81% and 84%, leading pollsters said.

"When asked about their trust in Putin, 84% of respondents answered positively (a +1 percentage point [p.p.] rise since March 10). In addition, the majority of the population (84%) is confident that he is doing a good job as head of state," the Public Opinion Foundation said in releasing the findings of a poll that surveyed 1,500 adult residents of Russia.

"When asked about their trust in Putin, 80.7% of respondents answered positively (a 0.3 p.p. decline), and the Russian president’s approval rating has remained unchanged, amounting to 78.9%," the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) said after releasing its findings from a poll of 1,600 adult residents of Russia conducted on March 18-24.

The Russian government’s job approval rating stood at 58% (a 3 p.p. contraction), while 56% of Russians surveyed said they approved of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s job performance (a 3 p.p. drop), the Public Opinion Foundation said, whereas, according to VCIOM, the Russian government’s job approval rating stood at 56.6% (a 0.6 p.p. drop), while 54.7% of Russians approved of Mishustin’s job performance (a 0.4 p.p. rise). A total of 62.6% of respondents said they trusted Mishustin (a 0.4 p.p. drop).

According to the Public Opinion Foundation, the level of popular support for Russia’s main political parties stood at 52% for the ruling United Russia party (a 1 p.p. rise), 7% for the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) (a 1 p.p. rise), 7% for the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) (a 2 p.p. drop), 2% for the A Just Russia-For Truth party (a 1 p.p. drop), and 4% for the New People party (no change).

In turn, VCIOM said that 30.1% of respondents trust longtime CPRF head Gennady Zyuganov (a 2 p.p. rise); 25.9% trust A Just Russia-For Truth leader Sergey Mironov (a 1.8 p.p. rise); 19.7% trust LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky (a 0.2 p.p. rise); and 6.5% trust New People party chairman Alexey Nechayev (a 1.1 p.p. decline).

As for the political parties themselves, VCIOM reported that the level of popular support stood at 41.6% for the ruling United Russia party (a 2.4 p.p. drop), 9.4% for the CPRF (a 1 p.p. rise), 7.9% for the LDPR (a 0.4 p.p. drop), 3.3% for A Just Russia-For Truth (a 0.1 p.p. drop), and 8.3% for New People (a 1 p.p. rise).
