St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo airport suspends operation due to security reasons — agency
According to the agency, aircraft crews, air traffic controllers and the airport’s services are making all possible efforts to ensure safety of flights
MOSCOW, March 10. /TASS/. St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo International Airport has temporarily suspended operation due to security reasons, Russia’s Air Transport Agency said.
"Restrictions has been imposed on the operation of Pulkovo Airport from 5:00 p.m. Moscow time (2:00 p.m. GMT) on March 10 to ensure safe flights of civilians planes," it said.
According to the agency, aircraft crews, air traffic controllers and the airport’s services are making all possible efforts to ensure safety of flights.
"Restrictions on the operation of the St. Petersburg airport have been lifted at 6:22 p.m. Moscow time (3:22 p.m. GMT). Since 5:00 p.m. Moscow time, when the airport temporarily suspended operation, three flights were directed to other airports," Russia’s Air Transport Agency report said.
According to the airport’s press service, four St. Petersburg-bound planes were directed to Moscow’s Sheremetyevo (from Penza, Sochi, Kaliningrad, and Moscow), and one flight was directed to Cherepovets (from Ukhta).
