Russian lower house commission to look at declaring Freedom House unwanted organization
Vasily Piskarev noted that in its annual Freedom in the World report, the organization "well in advance, groundlessly declared election in Russia" as falsified"
MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. The Russian State Duma’s (lower house of parliament) commission on probing into foreign countries’ interference into Russia’s domestic affairs will look at recognizing Freedom House, a US non-governmental organization, as unwanted in Russia, the commission’s chairman, Vasily Piskarev, said.
"Bearing in mind the fact that Freedom House has been using human rights topics as an instrument of foreign pressure and interference into our country’s domestic affairs, we will look at recognizing this American organization as unwanted in Russia. We will keep an eye on this matter," Piskarev, who is also chairman of the State Duma defense and anti-corruption committee, was quoted as saying on the commission’s Telegram channel.
He noted that in its annual Freedom in the World report, the organization "well in advance, groundlessly declared election in Russia" as falsified. "However, the American pseudo-advocates of human rights say nothing of the kind about the upcoming US presidential election and due to some unknown reason are refraining from giving any assessment of the election campaign in their own country," Piskarev added.
