Putin sets task to achieve steady rise in births in Russia within next six years
According to preliminary data from the Federal State Statistics Service, the birth rate in 2023 decreased by 3.2% from 2022
MOSCOW, February 29. /TASS/. Russia should achieve a stable rise in births within the next six years, in view of which the Russian government will be taking additional measures in the educational system, in regional and economic development, President Vladimir Putin said in his State of the Nation Address to the Federal Assembly (parliament).
"Within the timeframe of the next six years, we must achieve a sustainable rise in births. For this purpose we will make additional decisions in the system of education, regional and economic development," he said.
According to preliminary data from the Federal State Statistics Service, the birth rate in 2023 decreased by 3.2% from 2022. In 2023, 1.265 million children were born in Russia, the lowest figure in the past 23 years.
