MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. Russia and South Africa are discussing the terms of transportation of exotic animals such as hippos, giraffes, rhinos and other kinds, South African Ambassador to Russia Mzuvukile Jeff Maqetuka told TASS.
"It's ongoing. It's been a very long process between the two departments of agriculture. Something that they have been working on," the ambassador said to a related question.
Earlier, Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision told TASS that it was planning to discuss with its colleagues from South Africa the possibility of bringing hippos, elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and rhinos from South Africa's hunting reserves in the Limpopo and Gauteng provinces to Russia’s zoos.
