FSB detains suspect in plotting attack against law enforcement officer near Moscow

MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained a Russian citizen who, on the instructions from Ukrainian secret services, was preparing to blow up the car of a law enforcement officer of the Moscow region by placing an explosive device under his vehicle in the town of Lobnya, near Moscow.
"The Moscow and Moscow Region’s office of the FSB has detained a Russian citizen on the suspicion of plotting a terrorist attack. It has been found that a native of the city of Yaroslavl, acting on assignment from Ukrainian secret services was to blow up a vehicle of the Moscow Region’s law enforcement officer," the FSB press-service has said.

FSB bomb disposal specialists defused a make-shift explosive device. There were no casualties among civilians or law enforcement officers, the FSB said. Criminal proceedings were launched under part 3 of article 30, article 205 (terrorist act) and article 275 (high treason) of the Criminal Code. The suspect was arrested. Detective and investigative measures are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the crime and the persons involved in progress.
On February 19, law enforcement agencies told TASS that an explosive device planted under a car in Lobnya near Moscow had been defused. Residents of some buildings nearby were evacuated for safety reasons.
