Russian customs agents seize 100 kg of cocaine hidden in bananas at port of St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, December 22. /TASS/. Officers from the Russian Federal Customs Service’s northwestern directorate, working jointly with the St. Petersburg-Leningrad Region branch of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), uncovered more than 100 kilograms of cocaine concealed in containers holding bananas at the St. Petersburg marine cargo port, the customs authority told reporters.

"Officers of the Baltic and Northwestern Customs jointly with the Economic Security Service of the FSB’s office for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region thwarted two instances of trafficking of cocaine weighing a total of over 100 kilograms," the customs service said.

Two criminal probes are currently underway.
