Six Ukrainian children return to their homeland from Russia — Qatari minister
According to Lolwah al-Khater, the children were between eight and 15 years of age. They returned to Ukraine via the territory of Belarus
LONDON, December 5. /TASS/. Six children, evacuated to Russia from the zone of hostilities in Ukraine, have returned to Ukraine with Qatar’s mediation, said Lolwah al-Khater, Qatar’s minister of state for international cooperation.
"Moments like this serve as a timely reminder that mediation can yield positive results when both parties, regardless of their differences, are willing to engage patiently and in good faith," she told The Times in an interview.
In her words, the children were between eight and 15 years of age. They returned to Ukraine via the territory of Belarus.
Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova told TASS on November 1 that four children separated from their families due to the Ukrainian conflict have returned from Russia to Ukraine, while one such child has returned to Russia.
In late September, Lvova-Belova said that a communication channel had been established with Ukrainian authorities for the purpose of coordinating the return of displaced children. She then said that work was underway on the cases of 15 children from each side.
