Fidel Castro’s younger sister dies in US at 90
Juanita Castro publicly criticized the Cuban authorities on many occasions after leaving the island in 1964
NEW YORK, December 5. /TASS/. Juanita Castro, the younger sister of the late Cuban leader Fidel Castro, died on December 4 in Miami, Florida, at the age of 90, her spokesperson, Maria Antonieta Collins, said.
"This is the news that I would never like to share but have to share after being her spokesperson for nearly three decades: Juanita Castro - an exceptional woman and tireless fighter for the Cuban cause - has died today at the age of 90," she wrote on Instagram (prohibited in Russia due to its ownership by Meta, which has been designated as extremist). Collins added that a private funeral ceremony would take place behind closed doors.
Juanita Castro publicly criticized the Cuban authorities on many occasions after leaving the island in 1964. She later confessed that she had been working for the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) since 1961.
