Sanctions against Russia hinder cultural ties with Germany — envoy
Sergey Nechayev emphasized that the current situation is "not the Russian side's choice"
BERLIN, December 4. /TASS/. The ongoing sanctions-related restrictions, primarily those concerning logistics, hinder cultural ties and inter-community relations, Russian Ambassador to Berlin Sergey Nechaev said in an interview with the Berliner Telegraph magazine.
"The continuing restrictions caused by the sanctions, primarily in logistics, certainly hinder cultural ties and inter-societal contacts. Joint educational programs, research, museum, and humanitarian projects are stalled," said the ambassador.
Nechayev emphasized that the current situation is "not the Russian side's choice."
"We do not impede German citizens from visiting Russia, we do not restrict the issuance of visas. We are sure that common sense will prevail sooner or later," Nechayev noted, also inviting everyone to the Games of the Future in Kazan and the World Youth Festival in Sochi in 2024.
