Ninth Russian book fair opens in center of Paris
The leitmotif of the event was the work of Mayakovsky, said Russian Ambassador to France Alexey Meshkov
PARIS, December 1. /TASS/. The 9th Russian book fair Russian Literature has opened at the Russian Spiritual and Cultural Orthodox Center in Paris, a TASS correspondent reports from the scene.
"This fair, the ninth one, has become a landmark event in the cultural interaction between our countries. It concludes a year full of events on a traditionally high level," said Russian Ambassador to Paris Alexey Meshkov.
He noted that for a long time of its fruitful activity the Russian Literature fair has turned "into a real holiday for a reading person, has earned the most positive assessment of visitors, many of whom are happy to return here again and again."
This gathering demonstrates "the global significance of Russian culture and literature, its immovability to conjunctural political vicissitudes. The fair is an example of open and honest dialogue between the Russian and French peoples," Meshkov emphasized.
"It would be useful for such trends to spread to other areas of Russian-French relations, because the dialogue is the basis of mutual understanding," the Russian diplomat said.
