CAIRO, November 13. /TASS/. The Russian Emergency Ministry’s Il-76 plane that’s carrying Russian nationals evacuated from the Gaza Strip has taken off for Moscow, according to a TASS reporter.
The plane took off from a Cairo airport for the Domodedovo airport in Moscow, carrying 70 Russians that were evacuated from the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing the day before. The flight is expected to take five hours.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry confirmed to TASS that the flight had departed. The evacuees are accompanied by the ministry’s medical staff and psychologists.
"It is important that each person feels support, attention and gets the opportunity to come back to their homeland," Russian Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov was quoted as saying by the ministry’s press center.
The work to evacuate Russians from the Gaza Strip has been conducted by the Russian Emergencies Ministry together with Russian diplomats. Last Sunday, the first group of Russian nationals went into Egypt through the Rafah crossing. A total of 168 Russian nationals have passed through the crossing over the past two days. Russian Emergencies Ministry staff met them at the border and provided them with medical and psychological assistance.
