Open education center in Russian language holds first lessons in Tunisia
The head of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Tunisia, Yuri Zaitsev, noted that Tunisia is currently the only country in North Africa where Russian has the official status of the language of additional education in the secondary education system
RABAT, November 13. /TASS/. The first lessons have been held at the Center for Open Education and Russian Language, which was established this spring, in Tunis, head of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Tunisia (Russian House) Yuri Zaitsev told TASS.
"In May 2023, the Evseviev Mordovian State Pedagogical University, with the support of the Russian House, opened a Center for Open Education and teaching of the Russian language in Tunisia under the auspices of a grant from the Russian Ministry of Education. From October 29 to November 11, a group of Russian language teachers from the capital of Mordovia, Saransk, visited the North African country to hold lessons and master classes with their Tunisian colleagues from lyceums and higher educational institutions, as well as students of the Russian language," he said.
According to him, Tunisia is the only country in North Africa where Russian is officially recognized as a supplementary language in secondary education.
