FSB nabs Ukrainian agent transmitting data on Crimean defensive fortifications
It is reported that a Sevastopol court of law has chosen custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect
MOSCOW, October 30. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has apprehended a Russian national suspected of high treason for transmitting data on Crimean defensive fortifications to Ukraine’s military, the FSB press office told TASS on Monday.
"A Russian citizen has been apprehended in Sevastopol on suspicion of committing a crime stipulated under article 275 of Russia’s Criminal Code ('High Treason'). During his work on equipping defensive structures in the Republic of Crimea in March 2023, the Russian national gathered and transferred information on these facilities with their geographical coordinates to a representative of the Ukrainian armed forces," the press office said in a statement.
A Sevastopol court of law has chosen custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect. An investigation is underway, it said.
Article 275 of Russia’s Criminal Code carries punishment ranging from 12 years behind bars to life imprisonment.
