HAIKOU /China/, October 22. /TASS/. The city of Haikou, the administrative center of South China's Hainan Province, is creating favorable conditions for in-demand foreign specialists, the Hainan Daily newspaper reported.

According to the newspaper, local authorities offer not only jobs, but also a favorable climate for foreigners with high qualifications in strategically important industries for the development of Hainan Free Trade Port. The newspaper interviewed expats who left positive comments on the matter.

According to the interviewees, local government agencies have set up a convenient document management system for professionals coming to Hainan from abroad. It has made it possible to speed up many procedures. For example, it takes only three to four days from the time of application to process a work permit.

The newspaper recalls that in 2020 Haikou launched a platform that provides services to overseas professionals in a one-stop-shop format. It allows them to obtain a permanent residence permit online in just a week without having to visit the competent government offices.

The city administration also organizes various courses to train foreign professionals. They are attended by citizens from different countries and regions including Russia, the USA, African continent states. Many of them have been working in Haikou for more than 10 years. The authorities provide them with social services that help specialists from abroad to feel more comfortable in Hainan.

In-demand personnel can be supported in solving many problems, according to the report. To this end, the Haikou International Professionals' House was established in September 2021 under the leadership of the local foreign personnel department, which regularly organizes activities aimed at adapting newcomers to the new environment.

According to official statistics, more than 880 foreign professionals received work permits in Haikou between January and June, an increase of 8.2% over the same period in 2022. Representatives of more than 80 countries, including the Russian Federation were hired by local companies operating in transportation, education, hospitality, wholesale and retail trade, entertainment, culture and sports, as well as industrial enterprises.
