NANJING, September 25. /TASS/. Russian-Chinese exchanges in the media sphere help protect the information space from Western manipulation, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media Bella Cherkesova said.

"There are obvious attempts to manipulate the information space by Western countries. The exchange of experience between Russian and Chinese media helps to resist these attempts," Cherkesova said during her speech at the 16th meeting of the Subcommission on Cooperation in the Field of Mass Media of the Russian-Chinese Commission on Humanitarian Cooperation in Nanjing.

As an example of this cooperation, she cited the updated agreement between TASS and China's Xinhua news agency, which was signed in March during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia.

Representatives of leading news agencies, TV and radio companies, newspapers and communication enterprises attended the subcommission meeting.

The SCO TV Festival will also start in Nanjing on Tuesday.
