Defense appeals Trepova’s arrest for terrorist attack that killed war blogger Tatarsky
On April 4, the Basmanny court ordered Trepova to remand in custody until June 2
MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. The defense has appealed the arrest of Darya Trepova in the case of the terrorist attack in a cafe in St. Petersburg, in which military reporter Vladlen Tatarsky was killed, Moscow’s Basmanny court told TASS on Wednesday.
"The court received a complaint from Trepova’s lawyer against selecting custody as a preventive measure for the suspect," the spokeswoman said. The complaint was sent to the court by mail.
On April 4, the Basmanny court ordered Trepova to remand in custody until June 2.
According to the investigation, on April 2, following instructions given to her by people acting from Ukraine, Trepova brought a statuette, stuffed with explosives, to a cafe in central St. Petersburg and gave it to war reporter Maxim Fomin, known under the pen-name Vladlen Tatarsky, as a gift. He was killed in the explosion and 40 more people sought medical help.
The National Anti-Terrorism Committee said that the terrorist act against Tatarsky had been masterminded by Ukraine’s special services with help from agents collaborating with Alexey Navalny’s anti-corruption foundation (recognized as an extremist organization in Russia). Trepova is a supporter of the foundation.
