Duma Speaker orders lawmakers to invite US envoy to testify on bio labs in Ukraine
During the April 11 plenary meeting, the lawmakers review the final report of the commission on investigation of operation of US biological laboratories in Ukraine
MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin ordered the lawmakers to invite US envoy Lynne Tracy to the State Duma due to lack of response from US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland to the invitation from the commission on biological laboratories.
"This is disrespect to the parliament. The country that declares standards of democracy not only itself violates them, but also does everything so that they cease to exist. Invite the US envoy here and ask [her], let her answer for Nuland’s presence, let her testify before the commission, before the representatives of the people. They say one thing and do another," Volodin said.
During the April 11 plenary meeting, the lawmakers review the final report of the commission on investigation of operation of US biological laboratories in Ukraine.
The State Duma and the Federation Council decided to carry out a parliamentary probe into US biological laboratories in Ukraine and to establish a joint commission for this probe in March last year. The commission includes 14 lawmakers and 14 senators. It is chaired by Duma Deputy Speaker Irina Yarovaya and Federation Council Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev.
